Kink's eyes shot open suddenly, at the sound of noise from above.
"Mind the ship." She was told, as the rest of the crew and the captain went on shore searching for the Fountain of Youth. Clammering out of bed, she grabbed her pistols from off her dresser. She checked her reflection in the mirror. The mirror displayed the appearance of a boy. She adjusted the short wig on her head.
Carefully, she walked upstairs and peeked out. She saw nothing unordinary. The crew was busy at work, like usual. She noticed a decrease in their numbers though. Not that that was unusual neither.
Yawning, she picked up a rope and began to neatly roll it up over her arm.
"Aye, lad, you best be doing some more vigorous work than that there rope rollin'." A crew member said. She rolled her eyes and mustered up the manliest voice she could.
"The captain assigned me this work." She said.
"Oy! Didn't you know? The captain has, er...retired!" He said with a laugh and walked off.
Kink stared at him blankly until she heard a thundering voice from above her, at the helm. She felt shivers run down her back as she noticed the voice did not belong to Blackbeard.

"Keep the Ships work steady, ye bilge rats! We can't be slacken off when w've just left port!" Barbossa grins to himself, finally feeling as if his life wasn't in someone elses hands. Keeping a gloved hand on the Helm, he observed the crew beneath him, shouting at people when needed to continue his work.
His brilliant blue gaze rested on Crew member he hadn't yet seen, who stared back at him for a long moment, and he snarled.
"What are ye lookin' at Lad! Back ta work!"

She jumped slightly and quickly grabbed hold of a mop and bucket.
"Where did he come from!? What happened on that island while I was 'ere- and...where's the captain?" Thoughts swarmed through her head as she scrubbed the deck aggressively.
Everyone else on the ship acted normal, if not happier. She couldn't ask anyone what had happened. In order to keep her male facade in check, she rarely spoke, and didn't have any friends on the ship. She feared someone would catch a hint of her true gender if she spoke too much.
Non-chalauntly, she worked her mop and bucket up the stairs to where the helm and the mysterious new man was. She eyed him from underneath her hat, watching his blue eyes dance across the ship while he barked orders.

"Trim the Sails! Hold them taught to catch the sweepin' wind! Would ye rather be sittin' around and rendered useless while a /sword/ did yer work better than you?" A chorus of in favor replies gained an annoyed eyeroll from the Captain, and he pulled his gun. Really, the man had no intention of truly firing it, but it was great prp in aiding his manipulation of the Crewmens fear. "Well then lads, if that be the case, Let the useless man come forward and be off ta join the ghastly crew of Davy Jones' Locker!"
Silence fell, an no man spoke out as he quickly went to continue the work need be done. Barbossa held back a cackle. With no one controling his life or his future, he was prepaired to live his life as he wanted, and to gain riches beyond any ever known to man... Preferably riches that were not cursed, of course.
With the sun high in the clear blue sky, and the winds blowing in favor of the Might Revenge, Barbossa angled his infamous plummed hat to keep out the sun, but also to keep a sharp eye on the men who worked beneath him. They were hard working, most likely thanks to Blackbeards teaching, but the few that had just jumped ship in Tortuga still needed a threatening push.

Kink watched in amazement as the crew quickly fell in line to his threats. She half smiled but caught herself and dropped her eyes to the deck. As she continued to mop, she mulled over whether her next action would be wise or not. Surely, Blackbeard's lashings had her prepared for the worst, so she saw no real harm in asking. Again, she hummed as lowly as possible in the back of her throat, to prepare her voice.
"Pardon me, erm...sir?" She muttered, her eyes still shaded by her hat. Her voice cracked half way through, but sounded deep enough to be an adolescent boy.

Barbossa's head snapps in the boys direction, and he narrows his blue eyes. He is not angry, and is really in no haste to go anywhere or do anything. If the boy wanted to ask something, he saw no loss in listening. "Aye, lad, what be on yer mind? Speak boy!"

She jumped slightly at his commanding tone.
"O-oh, I was just wondering...whatever happened to Cap'n Blackbeard? Or, rather...are ye our new Cap'n?" She stuttered and gripped her mop tightly, so that her knuckles grew white.
"I hope I'm not out of line asking..." She thought.

"..." Barbossa was silent for a moment, just watching the young boy shake from fear, and he simple laughed his trademark dark laugh. A few of the passing crew members had paused in their work to see what had happened, smiling theirselves. Even Barbossa's laugh could persuade others to laugh with him. "Lad, Am I the Quater master? Nay. Am I the Firstmate? Nay."
He shook his head each time he said Nay, his laughter abruptly ending as he started to talk. The crew members that had started laughing ceased as well, hurrying off to finish their duties as the Captain layed an aged hand on the hilt of Blackbeards sword.
"I don't know wha ye've been doin' til now, boy, but yer former captain and Firstmate are dead and long gone. I be the new captain of the ship, and ye all be survin' under my command.' His grin was an evil yet charming grin. It was the grin he had used to gethis way with any and everyone he could place under his thumb. "So get back to work. Captain's orders."

Kink shivered as he laughed. She couldn't quite tell whether the goose bumps were good or bad.
"R-right away, Cap'n..." She began to curtsy, but quickly changed it to a tip of the hat and continued to mop around the deck.
Seeing the respect the rest of the crew had given their new captain, she knew he had to be better than Blackbeard. But...what was her new Captain's name?

"Captain Barbossa! All supply and food and drink accounted for, sir!" The Cabin boy shouted as he rushed up the stairs to stand beside his Masters side. Barbossa Grinned and patted the boy on the shoulder.
"Well done there lad."

Kink grinned underneath her hat at the cabin boy.
Least he's finally getting some praise.
She cast her gaze back at the captain and watched his hair blowing slightly in the wind.
Barbossa...now why does that ring a bell?
She finished up mopping and hurried downstairs to her own quarters. Sitting on her bed, she curled her legs up under her. Choking out a few tears, she thought about Angelica. She was the only one to show her any kindness on the ship. It was her sweet words to her father that granted her this room. Angelica had noticed her true gender the moment she saw her. Now, was she dead too? Along with her father?
She felt alone. The crew knew she had this room all to herself but no one knew why. Why was it that a young boy could have his own room? Without Angelica or Blackbeard here, she was scared. What would the crew do to her without the protection of her past captain and right hand "man", his daughter?

Standing on the highest deck, Barbossa enjoyed the sun on his back, warming every pore of his body and shining much needed light on a world he had thought so cruel. Aye, the world still be cruel in many corners of itself, but as far as Barbossa was concerned, everything was beginning to go the way he had wanted it. He was alive and not cursed, he wasn't striving to pay off a debt to a wicked sea goddess, and hehad paid his vengence on the man that had taken his leg. The world was fair to him, and he was, in return, a fair man again.
But of course he was still a Pirate. But he was A pirate for the sake of adventure and ambition. Not for blood or dominance. He had a ship, he a crew of hard working men, and he had charts with empty oceans, where uncharted Islands needed to be drawn, and their possible treasures discovered.

((OOC: You are by far the best Barbossa roleplayer *coughonlycough* I've seen to follow his personality, talk, and story. Thank you for giving my favorite character so much justice. <3))
Tucking a strand of loose blonde hair up into the wig, she repositioned her hat, and took one final look in the mirror. She wore ragged breeches that had been patched up many times to hide holes. Her once-white linen shirt was now stained and dirty. The dark green waistcoat she wore over top of it was still in tact but was indeed, dirty as well. She sighed and walked to the trunk by her bed. Opening it, she found her dress she wore when she came upon this ship. That memory was still so vivid in her mind...she can still hear the screams and smell the smoke.
A loud rapping came at her door. "Oy! Boy, ye better get yer ass back out 'ere and work. Cap'n Barbossa ain't as merciless as Blackbeard, but he still somethin' to be feared!"
She scoffed. Little does he know, Blackbeard treated me better than he did others on this ship. She opened the door and looked at him.
"What need being done?" She asked in a low voice.
"Th'heck I know, there's always somethin' to do. If I were ye, I'd head on down to the gallery and start supper for the cap'n. Blackbeard always trusted ye with that before, right?" He walked off, swaying a bit from the ship moving against the waves.
Supper? For the captain? Oh dear..I only knew what Blackbeard liked.
