She began to nod while chewing. "It-..."
Dropping her fork, her cheeks grew a light pink. She gulped hard and dug her nails into her palm.
"I...don't know what ye mean..."

Barbossa Chuckled and took a bite out of his remaining apple. He chewed it slowly before naswering, enjoying the fear and tension that suddenly filled the room. "Of course ye don't, lass."

Kink felt the little hairs all over her arms stand on end. She felt a cold chill come over her body, while her face was burning up. It was the kind of feeling you get when you've been caught stealing money from your mom's purse...not that she would know.
She chuckled. It wasn't a boyish laugh...it was her own. A girl's laugh. Very nervous...and very feminine.
"Lass" She echoed, looking at him hesitantly with her deep blue eyes. Her hand shook noticeably while she grabbed the hat and wig off her head, letting her long blonde locks fall along her flushed cheeks.
"Was it that obvious?"

"To any other Pirate, Nay." He grinned, but it wasn't a harsh grin by any means. There would be no gain in him exposing her, and he truly had no itention of doing so. "First, ye didn't know who I was or what had befallen yer last cap'n, which meant there had been somethin' odd about you to keep you out of the fight he knew would end his life if he made the wrong moves. Second, you have toruble with eye contact. And third... I be a well educated man, miss."
He took another bite of his apple to let her take in his reasoning.
"Fret not, miss. There be no profit from exposin' ye, so yer secret be safe with me. Bt I believe ye shouldn't sho yerself to the crew, because this is a ship filled with men who would love takin' things fer free." His face was grim as he spoke, and he finished his apple while watching her closely.

She looked up at him through her hair, when he spoke of her trouble with eye contact. As much as she wanted to look at him normally, she felt like it was wrong to have her eyes on him for too long...
She combed her fingers through her hair nervously while he spoke. When he told her he wouldn't expose her, she let out a small sigh of relief. "Thank ye, capn'..." She mumbled. Then she remembered how she had no reason to keep her voice low anymore and cleared her throat. "I-I mean...yes. I understand. Me past captain and his daughter...they kept me in a separate room, away from the rest of the crew, for that very reason."
She clenched her fingers on the fabric of her inner thigh. One night, she had over heard pirates brag of women they raped during raids. Never in her life, had she been more afraid of men, since before that night. Maybe that was another reason she had trouble keeping eye contact with Barbossa. She didn't know his true nature...didn't know whether he would be like them. The thought of that chilled her. Especially since he now knew her secret.
She began to shake slightly, in fear, from that thought.

Watches her shaking and narrows his eyes again. He had not given her any reason to shake, but he figured it was to the fact that someone had figured out her secret, perhaps others could. Barbossa sipped his water and tried to find the words that would put her mind at ease."Lass. The crew you sail with has seen a fair share of feminine men. They will not suspect you at any time, nor will any of them have the nerve. You even had me fooled when I first met you. But being in closed quarters changed my perspective, persay."

She nodded her head slowly and stared at her lap.
"I stay away from the rest of the crew as much as I can. But when there's work to be done, there be no helpin' it." She said softly, rubbing her thumb against her index finger.
"Is that all ye need from me...cap'n?" She asked, ready to take the dishes.

With a vacant nod, he pushes the two dishes forward. "Aye, lass. Tha' be all..."

After placing her hat back on her head, she scooped up the dishes into her arms, and walked towards the door. Stopping in the door way, she turned half way to look back at him.
"I know...tha' being on a new ship like this, it can some times be hard ta' settle in. If ye ever need or want to know anythin', I'm in the room nearest the stairs, on tha left wall."
Feeling stupid for what she just said, she quickly closed the door before he could reply, and proceeded to the gallery.

Barbossa sat alone for a long moment, his eyes unfocused as he was lost in thought. He had settled in just fine to the new ship, since it was in much better condition than the Pearl. But it all seemed empty for a reason. There was no one he knew. At least on the pearl, he had known Jack, and through him the crew... And he had known William and Elizabeth...
For the last few years, Barbossa had been alone, and actually felt very alone without his precious Monkey with him... Sighing to himself, Barbossa rolled up the charts and turned to make his way to his own captains Quarters.

Kink sighed heavily and dumped the dishes into the tub of pre-boiled water. She wiped her forehead with her sleeve and stared at her reflection in the tub. Biting back tears rising to her eyes, she started to scrub at the plates.
I should have been more careful. Shouldn't have sat down and eaten...he saw right through me. But what else was I supposed to do? Just say nay and walk off?
She sighed again, gripping the plate firmly.
Then again...he did say he wouldn't tell no one. Why is it that I trust 'im? I hardly just met with him. I'm surprised though, he could see through my facade quite quick-
Kink yelped out in pain. She looked down at her hand and saw that she had scraped her hand against a knife that was sitting in the bottom of the tub. Deep red blood quickly pooled to the surface of her palm and spilled over into the water. Hissing in pain, she held her palm tightly with her other hand.
Good goin' Kink...now ye get to wash the dishes all over again.

All was quiet out on deck and below decks, he noted as he did his last walk though for the night. He didn't look twice at the small secluded bed room, not seeing fit to actually do so. There was no gain and no true point. Barbossa shuffled up the stairs, his peg leg thudding rather loudly against the wooden steps. Exhaustion pulled at his eyes, and he longed for the safety of dreams. At least he wouldn't be alone there...

After securely tying off the bandage around her hand, she put the clean dishes away and made way for the stairs. All of the crew was below, drinking away their sorrows and sleeping away their aches from the day. This was always her favorite time because she knew she had a bit more freedom up on deck than she did during the day.
She trudged up the steps and made way for one of the main mast posts. Sighing peacefully, she slid down the post, and looked up at the stars above her.
"The stars seem so much clearer 'ere, then they did back home..."

Before disappearing into his cabin, Barbossa looked up at the stars and smiled once again. If there was one thing he loved most, it was the ability to see so many beauties just above his head. He recalled the night at worlds end, before they had soared over the edge of the earth, all of the stars reflecting and creating an entire new universe. Here, Barbossa can call himself his own universe, where he's the one in charge, and the man who makes his own fate. Nothing will and nothing can keep him from his dreams...

"Its a beautiful night, isn't it?"
Kink called out softly, from behind the mast.
